the furology story
After years of managing wonderful (but often chaotic) grooming salons, I knew there had to be a better way. I worked alongside incredibly talented groomers, but the environment often felt rushed and transactional. Pets were moved through like an assembly line, leaving little time to build trust, offer comfort, or truly see them as the loving individuals they are.
Over time, a pattern became clear: stressed environments led to stressed pets. Rushed services created uncomfortable experiences, and that never sat right with me.
Furology was born from a simple but powerful belief; that pets deserve unhurried, compassionate care. I set out to create a space centered on one-on-one, cage-free grooming, where quality, patience, and genuine connection come first. A place where pets are treated as family, not numbers.
Furology began in 2016 as a part-time passion alongside my full-time salon management role. In 2022, I transitioned fully into Furology with the goal of providing exceptional, holistic grooming care to pets throughout Durham and the Triangle.
Today, we focus on whole-pet wellness, working at each pet’s pace and building relationships rooted in trust- not speed. Our love of animals is the foundation of everything we do, and their health, safety, and well-being are always our top priority.

beth, owner & pet stylist
I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and have been grooming professionally since 2011. While studying accounting and finance, I took a job as a bather and quickly fell in love with the grooming industry. Alongside salon management, I spent ten years teaching grooming and truly enjoyed working with and mentoring students.
At home, I proudly embrace my title as crazy cat lady. My space is constantly invaded by Junior, an Egyptian Mau, and Marley, a domestic shorthair. Mordi, our Miniature Pinscher, is the newest addition to the fam and you’ll likely hear him enthusiastically greeting you when you arrive.
Outside the salon, I enjoy traveling to new places, hiking, visiting breweries, and doing nose-work with Mordi.
anne, pet stylist
Anne grew up in Durham and has been grooming pets professionally since 2014. She brings a calm, thoughtful approach to every appointment and enjoys building trust with pets through gentle handling and consistency.
At home, Anne's life is ruled by Kairo, her tuxedo cat. In the salon, she especially loves working with Pomeranians, adorable scruffy mixes, and pets with big personalities.
Outside the salon, Anne enjoys crafting, cooking, and baking — creative outlets that mirror the care and attention she brings to her grooming work.
